Conservation Leadership Program’s Initiative for Conservation Education
The Conservation Leadership Program partners with foundations and individuals to expand conservation education for Kenyan youth.

In 2022, Kenya Wildlife Trust recalibrated the Justice Ole Keiwua scholarship program to Conservation Leadership Program with an aim to sustainably raise up Kenya’s next generation of homegrown conservationists. This was a commitment to create a pipeline of promising students who will contribute to the long-term preservation of Kenya’s precious ecosystems.
The program not only focuses on providing financial support for education but also emphasizes mentorship and practical training. By combining academic learning with practical experiences, the Conservation Leadership Program’s goal is to cultivate passionate and capable conservation leaders who will drive positive change.
KWT was fortunate to connect with partners who are energized at the prospect of championing career opportunities for talented youth by removing barriers to their gender and current financial situation to access quality education.
Through this successful expansion, donated funds will fully cover tuition and accommodation fees for 19 youths from Masai Mara, Samburu, Laikipia, Tsavo, and Amboseli. Beneficiaries will receive a 2-year training delivered through diploma courses in either: environmental or wildlife management at Wildlife Research Training Institute, Naivasha starting June 5th, 2023.
