Mara Predator Conservation Programme

KWT’s Mara Predator Conservation Programme (MPCP) continues to be a
model of predator conservation in Kenya. The overall goal of MPCP is to
support stable, healthy predator populations in the Greater Mara Ecosystem by

providing scientific evidence for conservation action. The programme is strongly
guided by our value proposition of being
driven by science and focused on

people.

The work of MPCP is implemented
by two teams: Research team &
Community team. The research team

focuses on the science part while
the community team acts as a link
between the science and the people

who live with predators. The two
teams work closely with an end goal
of promoting co-existence of people
and predators within the Greater
Mara ecosystem. The findings

of the research team inform the
interventions of the community team
in reducing instances of human-

predator conflict.
